FAQ
DDA is a place for anyone who spends a significant amount of time using digital technology and recognizes that taking a 48-hour break would be in some way beneficial or at least a good challenge. This is most of us these days! Rest assured, you’ll be staying at a tranquil retreat in Khao Yai National Park. Imagine beautiful, spacious and comfortable rooms, delicious and nutritious food, and spending your time enjoying lots of awesome “real world” activities; plus, you share the experience and adventure with a group of people just like you.
Absolutely not. All activities our retreat group are invited to do will be suitable for EVERYONE.
You may like to let friends and family members know you’ll be unable to communicate with them for 48 hours. Also prepare yourself to be away from the digital world in any way you see necessary. Arrive with a positive mindset.
Don’t worry, humans have been device-free for thousands of years! We will provide you with an emergency contact phone number and ‘Hiatus Status’ images to upload to your social media platforms. Everyone else on retreat will be sharing the same ‘away from home’ experience.
Our departure and arrival locations are unique for each group depending on which location will be best for the majority. You will be informed of the locations during the process of booking your trip.
Sunscreen, running/walking shoes, flip-flops, a book, toiletries, cards and games, mosquito repellent, a reusable water bottle, sunglasses, and a hat; also, your sense of adventure and openness to new experiences! If you have any questions or concerns of what to bring, please contact us. Non-digital film and disposable cameras are permitted.
You may consider leaving your computer and smartphone at home if you prefer doing that rather than having our hosts mind them for you. Please don’t bring alcohol or drugs with you, but if you’re a cigarette smoker of legal age, we have a smoking area a short walk from the retreat.
One of the first things we do upon leaving Bangkok is to request all phones and computers be placed in our care. They will be kept safely by our retreat coordinators who will return them to you just before we arrive back in Bangkok. We will give you our emergency contact number to pass on to your friends and family members in case they need to get in contact with you during the 48-hour digital detox.
Healthy, nutritious, and delicious vegetarian food. DDA does not use any artificial flavours or MSG. There’ll be snacks through the day too. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure you eat enough while you’re with us. Additionally, there will be organic, locally-sourced coffee.
If you are coming as part of a school group or corporate trip, there will be a cash payment option through one of the organisers for your group. If you are coming on one of our mixed group retreat dates, it would be best to pay in full with your card at the time of booking to secure your spot.
Please tell us anything you think we should know about your diet or health at the time of booking.
At the time of booking you will pay a non-refundable but transferable 50% of the total price, to confirm your reservation. The remaining 50% must be paid more than 1 week before your retreat. If you cancel within the week leading up to the retreat, your money will unfortunately be lost. If you cancel after paying your 50% non-refundable deposit, you can transfer this to a friend or family member or use it as a credit to visit us sometime within the next 6 months.
